The LaTeX Colour and Graphics Packages
========================================
                    1997/12/01

This is a collection of LaTeX packages for:
 * producing colour
 * including graphics (eg PostScript) files
 * rotation and scaling of text
in LaTeX documents.

=======================================================================

THIS DIRECTORY CONTAINS
======================

00readme.txt    This File
changes.txt Log of changes to the packages.
graphics.ins    Install file for docstrip.

Standard packages
=================
color.dtx       Source for color package
graphics.dtx    Source for graphics package
trig.dtx Source for trig package (required by graphics)

Non Standard Packages
=====================
graphicx.dtx Source for graphicx package (extension of graphics)
epsfig.dtx Source for epsfig package (extension of graphicx)
keyval.dtx Source for keyval pacakge (required by both the above)
pstcol.sty Small wrapper for pstricks package.
lscape.sty Produce landscape pages in a (mainly) portrait document.

Driver Files
============
drivers.dtx Source for driver files for supported drivers.
textures.def Textures file supplied by Arthur Ogawa.
pdftex.def      pdftex driver file (experimental).

User Documentation
==================
grfguide.tex User Guide to all the packages in this bundle.
                WARNING:
                This file calls color and graphics packages
                without a driver option.
                You *must* set up two files
                                 color.cfg and graphics.cfg
                containing (for example)
                                \ExecuteOptions{dvips}
                Before running this file.

TO UNPACK THE PACKAGES
======================

latex graphics.ins

This will produce the

.sty package files
.def driver files.

NOTE (docstrip version)
***********************
****
**** If   latex graphics.ins
**** produces the `docstrip interactive mode' prompt:
****
**** * First type the extension of your input file(s): *
****   \infileext=
****
**** Then your version of docstrip is too old.
**** Quit (eg by hitting `enter' to all questions) and get a newer
**** docstrip.tex. It must be at least version 2.4.
****
**** A suitable docstrip.tex may be found from `CTAN' archives such as
**** ftp.dante.de   tex-archive/macros/latex/unpacked/docstrip.tex
****
**** Docstrip is part of the base LaTeX distribution, so if you have
**** an old docstrip then your LaTeX is out of date and you may consider
**** getting the whole of that directory and re-installing LaTeX.
**** However you need to fetch only the file docstrip.tex to unpack
**** this graphics distribution with your existing format.

=============================================

USING THE PACKAGES
==================

Move files ending in .sty .def to a standard TeX input directory.

Make a default option for your site by creating two files
     color.cfg and graphics.cfg
containing (if dvips is your default driver)
\ExecuteOptions{dvips}

You may then LaTeX the user guide:
latex grfguide.tex.

MAIN CHANGES IN THIS RELEASE
============================

OzTeX support merged with dvips, for OzTeX 3.x.
  oztex.def is not now unpacked by default, but may still be extracted
  from drivers.dtx, for users of old versions of OzTeX.

Keyval improved internally.
  Uses LaTeX style error messages.
  Correctly handles brace groups at the start of a <value>.
  The old version treated key={abc}{xyz} like key=abc{xyz}.
  Does not require # to be doubled in values.

  This last change affects the use of the command key in graphicx
  which is the only key in this distribution which takes an argument
  that might involve #. Fortunately this key is probably never used
  in practice.
  However `command = xxx ##1' now needs to be  `command = xxx #1'.
