Gidday, and Welcome to YATE.

I've always wanted to write a text editor.
I think it's important to feel comfortable in an
environment you spend 10+ hours a day in.

So when BeOS came along, I finally had the excuse
I'd been waiting for: “I hate Mac key-bindings.”
I started cobbling a text-editor together and by
	November '96, ‘YATE82A.TGZ’ was born.

We're about 16 months older now - more featured,
more polished, and a _lot_ more stable. While
many of the features have become more mainstream,
I still think Yate reflects my ideas about how code
	should be created.

The result is a text editor that's not afraid to get
stroppy on memory, chew up all available
processor time or get creative in the ways it
deals with things. In fact, the core code is quite
	similar to a multi-player 4-way-scrolling shoot-em-up.

	But YATE doesn't end here.

With Eddie and Pe and ne and BeIDE also becoming
polished and feature filled, (not to mention EMacs(!))
You can bet that YATE will not want to be left behind.

Making good on this promise is the proof-of-concept
HTML Viewer. At the moment it's embarrassingly
slow and only understands a few tags, but hopefully
shows that the evil plan will work.

But don't let the new features in this release
fool you - as always, there's a whole lot more coming!

Hopefully you'll feel comfortable here too.

Chris
