SJ2U is a simple Tracker add-on to convert Shift-JIS encoded
Japanese text files to UTF-8 encoded. Just put the SJ2U file
in your /home/config/add-ons/Tracker folder, and right-click
on your source Shift-JIS files, then select SJ2U from Add-Ons
sub menu.

You can select a number of files at a time to feed them to this
add-on, and it converts each of them successively.
The converted files are named like xxxx.utf8 where xxxx is the
original file name.
You can not select folders to recursively convert its contents.
The program does not look inside folders at all.

It just uses a BeOS built-in command "xtou" to do the job.
It gives -n flat so that newline codes are converted properly.
The flag works fine with the PPC version of the BeOS, however
not for current x86 version. The problem is in xtou command
and will be fixed in R4.

This is a freeware.
Have fun!
